In Memoriam
This page is to honor the memory and service of our members who have left us. May God’s perpetual Light of Love forever shine on them!
Sr. Margaret
Sr Margaret was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She had a calling to become a social worker. For the next 55 years, she dedicated her life to helping others heal, grow, and find hope. She touched countless lives with her wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
Peg began her career in the Appalachian Mountains of southeastern Kentucky. Determined to serve others for as long as she could, Peg continued working until shortly before her passing.
A woman of deep faith, Peg was a devoted member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Indianapolis and a member of the Community of the Gospel. Her faith guided her life and was reflected in the kindness, grace, and understanding she extended to others. More than any professional accomplishment, Peg’s greatest gift was her unconditional love for her family. She was always ready to listen and, whether you wanted it or not, offer her advice. Her children often reminded her with a smile that they were not her clients, and everyone would laugh. She loved being in control and remained true to herself until the very end.
Peg’s life was defined by service, faith, wisdom, and love. She will be deeply missed, but in true Peg fashion, she would want her life to be celebrated with laughter!
1948-2026Sr. Catherine-Thomas
1955 - 2026Sister joined our Community in 2012, became a Novice later that year, and was Professed in late 2013. She has been an active member for us since then.
She was born in Great Lakes, Illinois, in 1955 "to a wonderful Italian family." She was raised in the Roman Catholic Church, but has been a spiritual seeker through other denominations as well, especially the High Anglican Episcopal Church. She was employed as a research administrator for the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, and taught classes at Minnesota State University and Northwestern University. Her love of Monasticism came about through her affiliation and friendship with St. John's Abbey and St. Benedict's Monastery in Minnesota. She was also a volunteer with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in Chicago. Sister always pursued classical learning through literature, medieval and English Romantic poetry, languages, and translating classical texts.
