Members become transformed by living what we value.  Not that these things in themselves do the
transforming, but they put us in a position whereby we can be transformed by the love of God.

Our Core Values…

These values represent our foundational activities; that is, our work:

PRAYER: We view this value to mean the setting aside time daily for prayer and meditation.
Members will usually pray 1 to 4 times daily, using a format that suits their prayer temperament.   This
is a time to be with God for thanksgiving, praise, intercessions and supplications.

STUDY: We view this value to mean exploring topics of personal interest and need in the quest to
learn more about ourselves and God, keeping always in mind His love and compassion for us.

SERVICE: We view this value to mean the personal response we offer because of God’s love.
Balancing the contemplative side of our lives, we seek to serve others in whatever way God has
revealed to us through our special uniqueness.  Our service can take many different forms.  To God,
even the littlest of service that furthers His love in this world is so very important to Him.

Our Guiding Values…

These values represent how we do things:

SIMPLICITY: Members strive to live as simply as possible. The purpose of simplicity is to keep our
heart free and clear of all encumbrances so that our focus is on the most valuable of all possessions,
God himself.  Our simplicity serves to balance worldwide economic equality and co-exist with the
environment.

FIDELITY: We treat others and ourselves with respect, dignity, and justice, in keeping with our
baptismal vows.

GIVING: We learn to give from the abundance in our lives; to share our blessings.  This giving
includes our time, our smiles, our prayers, and other resources we may have.  Members are
encouraged to work toward tithing of their financial resources to local church communities, or local,
national, or international causes that spread the love and compassion of God.  Each member may be
moved to support a different cause.

PRESENT-MOMENT AWARENESS: This is our key starting point. Perhaps it should be viewed as
being the most important.  It is the way that we say our prayers; it is the way that we study; it is the way
that we fulfill our personal mission.  It is the way of awareness of each moment.

“The present moment is the field on which the game of life happens.” - Eckhart Tolle.

Over time we learn to live in the present moment, leaving the past to God’s mercy and the future to His
providence.  Becoming aware of our attachments, beliefs and desires will help us to know our true
selves, and thereby come to know, love and serve God better.  Awareness begins at the point that we
realize our thoughts are not the same as the person thinking them.  It is at this point that we can clearly
examine our actions, beliefs, desires, wants and preferences and begin to heal.  Present-moment
awareness helps us to dissolve the ego.  When the ego begins to dissolve, it allows the natural
goodness, happiness and peace that are part of us to come forth.

Our Supporting Values…

These values represent how we are supported:

WORSHIP/EUCHARIST: Members regularly attend the church of their choice, partaking in the
Eucharist/Communion as it is offered.  It is through community worship that we become a part of the
larger Church, and realize the extent of God’s Grace.

GUIDANCE: Members are encouraged to build a spiritual direction team to help them on their
journey.  This team can include spiritual directors, pastors, friends, or support groups.  They are part of
how God speaks to us.  Every member of the Community has a Formation Guide who is part of the
Community.

COMMUNITY: Members are strongly encouraged to interact with each other, pray for the Community,
attend Convocations whenever possible, and support each other’s journey.  We are not isolated; we
are all children of the One Father.

HEALTH: Members strive to live as healthy as possible.  We need to learn what is best for our bodies
in terms of safety, nutrition and exercise, and work toward optimizing this health so that we can serve
God in our prayers, studies and mission effectively.  It is through personal present-moment awareness
that we come to know what are bodies truly need, and not just what our false self wants.

All the values work together to form a value system.  The diagram below is one way of illustrating this:
