The Charism of this Community is to live the monastic values of prayer, study and service that lead to
personal transformation at the hands of Christ. This results in our knowing, loving and serving the Lord in
our own unique way, as God made us.
Members become transformed by living what we value. Not that these things in themselves do the
transforming, but they put us in a position whereby we can be transformed by the love of God.
Our Core Values…
These values represent our foundational practices; that is, our work:
PRAYER: We view this practice to mean the setting aside time daily for prayer and meditation. Members
will usually pray 1 to 4 times daily, using a format that suits their individual prayer temperament. This is a
time to be with God for thanksgiving, praise, intercessions and supplications.
STUDY: We view this practice to mean exploring topics of personal interest and need in the quest to learn
more about ourselves and God, keeping always in mind His love and compassion for us.
SERVICE: We view this practice to mean the personal response we offer because of God’s love.
Balancing the contemplative side of our lives, we seek to serve others in whatever way God has revealed
to us through our special uniqueness. Our service can take many different forms. To God, even the littlest
of service that furthers His love in this world is so very important to Him.

The visible, outward practices of prayer, study and service are supported by internal, spiritual attitudes
which we call Spiritual Postures. These are shown in the illustration below surrounded by the Core
Practices, and are further explained in the .pdf attachment near the bottom of this page.
Also contributing to our practice of the Core Values are a number of supporting values. These can be
grouped into three key areas and are depicted at the corners of the above illustration:
GUIDANCE: We do not walk this journey alone. We work with others to help discern God's will for us.
Members interact with their spiritual direction team, CTG formation guide, friends, pastors, counselors, and
local congregation members. We do this in a spirit of prayer, study and service.
GROWTH: Our main goal in spiritual growth is to undergo a shift of consciousness from our ego-self to
our soul-self. It is here that we realize the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, practice personal health and live our life in
a spirit of simplicity. We begin to see people as the temples of God, nature as being sacred, things as
being gifts of God, and our actions as sacraments of His love.
GIVING: The result of our transformation is to know, love and serve the Lord in our own unique way, as
God has made us. For each person this is different. But we all contribute to God's plan if we become who
He meant us to be. Each person's contribution is equally important. We practice fidelity in all relationships
and actions.
